I SEE ITALY

Last summer I went to Italy. Italy is known for its art ,architecture ,fashion, and pickpocketing .It is adored for its marvelous churches dating back from the times of the mighty Roman Empire. Ok, I have to admit that the paintings and stuff were beautiful but they didn’t resonate with me just as much as they did with my parents and brother.I’m the kind of person who is more into food and movies and amusement parks and desserts and beaches and … ,I think you got the point.

When we landed in Rome it was around midnight and all I could think of was going to bed and crashing. My stay in Rome was enjoyable except the part that it was too hot and there were too many museums to see. The best part about Rome , actually about the whole trip, was a shop called Flying Tiger Copenhagen. Ever since I’d spotted that shop I made it a point to visit it in every city I went at least once and purchase something.( well, I could not control my temptation!) I just wish I could go back in time and visit the Colosseum and Trevi Fountain again as that day I was in a bad mood and was throwing a tantrum.

Our next destination after Rome was ‘Firenze‘, as the locals call it( Florence). Hmmm…. it was pretty much okay because here we had to see even more museums than Rome . But I really loved the vineyard we visited and also the leaning tower of Pisa. If you are a fan of gelatos like me, you have to go to Florence as it is the hub of gelotos and ice creams.

If you haven’t seen the movie tourist go watch it as it tells you a whole lot about my next destination- Venice! Venice was charming and magnificent and it was a delight roaming around in a city with no roads and only canals. I had a blast at the islands of Murano and Burano where i saw glass blowing and also bought a pendant for myself. Like everything has its own pros and cons , so did Venice. Every nook and corner in Venice was flooded with tourists and most importantly pickpocketers so we had to be alert at all times.

Finally we ended our trip with Milan. Milan is one of my most favourite places in the world and is known as the ‘ today of Italy’ .It is the fashion capital of the world and is the perfect amalgamation of fun and history. Even though i dont like museums i enjoyed visiting the Gothic Milan Duomo . In Milan my Mamu ( mothers brother)joined us. We saw the ferrari museum, Romeo and Juliet’s balcony, went to an outlet mall and indulged in shopping and food. There is no doubt Milan was the highlight of the trip and also a happy ending to our twenty day trip to Italy!
