SUMMER BINGE-WATCH 101

Completely baffled by the hundreds of shows on Netflix and not sure which one to binge watch this summer? Well I’ve got you. While your summer may be getting started, mine has just gotten over, which means after the tens of  hours of lazing around the couch and streaming several series, I’ve come up with a list of shows you can watch to kickstart your Netflix spree!

1.SUITS

Tom Ford suits, New York skyline and Gabriel Macht. If these three things get you as excited as they get me, opening Netflix and clicking the ‘play’ button on Suits is what you should be doing next.

A grappling sitcom set in a Manhattan law firm, powered by the fiery rapport between Mike Ross, a highschool dropout with photographic memory and a knowledge of law as good as any Harvard graduate, and Harvey Specter, a witty, confident and charismatic senior partner at the firm, looking to hire a new associate. A perfect duo in the books, but there’s only one problem. The firm only hires associates from Harvard, and not only has Mike not gone to Harvard, he hasn’t gone to any law school , meaning he isn’t actually a qualified lawyer. Can this swaggering team sail through the whirlwind this lie has set into motion?

2.EMILY IN PARIS

After landing her dream job at a high end firm in Paris, social media marketing executive Emily Cooper is all set to embrace the new food, work and love life in her city of dreams. But this shift isn’t as easy as she hoped it would be. With language barriers with her anti-American work colleagues,  to quarrels with her boyfriend back home, Emily finds it difficult to adjust into this new world. With her steadfast determination and help from some Parisian friends, she finds herself slowly getting the hang of things. But how long is it going to be until she messes up again?

Join Emily in this city full of romance, fashion, suave guys, and of course, croissants! Watch this , for the hard to let go, intoxicating whiff of Paris.

3. SELLING SUNSET

If high- end real estate intertwined with fleeting scenes of drama and gossip are things you like, Selling Sunset LA is just the show for you. A reality series, taking you through the glamorous lives of the agents at the Oppenheim Group, a high–end brokerage firm selling only the most expensive, lavish and opulent homes and lifestyles in LA, this show is the perfect amalgamation of ‘girl-boss’ and ‘badass’ attitudes. As new agents enter the firm, posing a threat to the dynamics of the group, will friendships crack and drift, or will they make it through this strait of pressure and drama?

4. FORMULA 1: DRIVE TO SURVIVE

Drive to Survive is a documentary series, giving viewers an insight into the lives of the F1 World Championship drivers, and letting them in on the behind-the-scenes of the most anticipated races of the season. It shows us how expensive cars and expensive lifestyles come with an expensive price the driver’s mental and physical health have to pay. While teams battle  it out to top the Constructors Championship table, drivers tussle over every cutthroat race to lead the Drivers Championship board. Every race counts. Every second matters.

It goes without saying that if fast cars are your thing, this is a show you should watch. But even if it’s not, I would highly advise you to take a look at this  series, as it is what catalysed my inclination towards this sport.

5. INVENTING ANNA

Entrepreneur or con artist? Inventing Anna, a show inspired by the story of Anna Sorkin, a woman posing as a wealthy German Heiress, making her way into the elite society of New York City under the name of Anna Delvey, takes us through the hundreds of lies spit by Anna to open her own high-end society club,  all veiled by a glamorous lifestyle. While she betrays her ‘friends’, maxes out her credit cards, and takes loans from banks she can only ever dream to pay back, Inventing Anna, shows the pretentious struggle of this woman trying to make it big in NYC through the eyes of a journalist.
